Caramel the Raining red stripe

When photographing the Blizzard, I decided to take a few pictures of Caramel as well. She looks like a dinosaur. ;)

My camera sucks unless there's a lot of natural light in the room. Too bad...

Blizzard male

I decided to photograph our Blizzard male, since we'll be selling him very soon. He's huge! And super pretty! He's also curious and not afraid of people. Click on the pictures to make them bigger :)

The new reptile rack!

Like I wrote before, we finally got a new rack for the snakes (and the new geckos, temporarily). We got it up and going yesterday! Looks so much better than the old one, and it doesn't fill as much space - but has room for more animals!

It's a much easier solution than the old rack. Much appreciated. :)

Caramel & Nana

I finally named the two new female leopard geckos! I was going to name the Raining red stripe "Aurora", because it's both a Disney name (from Sleeping beauty), and it matches Midnight, because aurora means "dawn"... BUT Mads hated the name! So I looked at pictures of her that I had just taken, and thought Caramel! She looks like yummy caramel, and it goes well with Sundae, Chocolate and Banana!

Caramel

As for the Mack snow female, I thought there wasn't much use in naming her since we will be selling her in 1-2 months... but I had to anyway. Her name is now "Nana", from the dog character in Peter Pan (both Wendy and Captain got their names from Peter Pan, so I thought this Mack snow should too)!

Nana

Right now I'm trying to find a name for the Blizzard male! I want his name to go well with Midnight, so I'm trying to find some name like that, that matches his pretty frosty looks. ;)

SuperRain misting system

We finally got our rain system for Rango's terrarium (the first one was broken when we got it so we had to return it and it took ages for them to send us a new one)! It's called SuperRain from Lucky Reptile! We'll use it only twice a day, since Rango (veiled chameleon) wouldn't want to live in a rain forest. It's awesome that we don't have to spray the terrarium manually anymore! Hope SuperRain is good :)

Terrarium platform

Mads built a platform for the geckos to climb around on! Now they have much more space :) and once Sundae grows up, we can use her hiding places to make the terrarium that much more awesome!

Raining red stripe

Like I wrote in previous posts, we got three new leopard geckos yesterday, and I already showed you our new Mack snow female and our Blizzard male. Well here is the extremely pretty Raining red stripe female!

Her colors are a bit pale, but I'm hoping good food and better heating will change that very soon! :) She is also the most nervous of the three, perhaps because she's gravid and all that. We'll just leave her alone for a few days.

Blizzard male

Here is the new Blizzard male! He's pretty big, and very pretty and frost-colored. Definitely makes me think the other two patternless leos we have (bought as Blizzards) are indeed Murphy patternless of some kind.

Mack snow female

Here are some photos of the new Mack snow female! Her colors are not as pretty as Wendy's, but I'm totally in love with the big spot she has near her tail! She's also very calm, a real sweetheart :) Too bad we have to sell her in a few months.

The adorable black spot! I hope some of the offspring will have the same spot :)

King python for sale!

Male, 0,5 years old, 600 grams, 70-80cm long.

We are selling this beautiful healthy male king python due to lack of space in the apartment. He is about 6 months old and weighs about 600 grams. He is 70-80cm long, and easy to handle. For more information, send us an email: Contact@msareptiles.com
Only 300 DKK (360 SEK or 40 euro)!

If you pick him up before Friday on March 23, you can get him for 250 DKK (300 SEK or 34 euro)!

We are located in Nærum, a suburb north of Copenhagen.

New leopard geckos!

Today Mads went to pick up 1.2 new leos! 1.0 Blizzard, 0.1 Mack snow (gravid, bred to the Blizzard male), and 0.1 Raining red stripe (gravid, bred to a Super giant tremper albino)! I'm really excited to see the future babies! :) Unfortunately, we will sell the Mack snow female in a few months, because we don't really have room for all of them, and we already have Mack snows. Mads wants to get rid of the Blizzard as well... :(

Chameleon shedding

Miss Rango was shedding yesterday, looking as funny as she always does at that time. Okay, not as fnny as when she's shedding the skin on her face - that looks hilarious! But at least she looked like a punk-rocker in white.
and yes, that is my camera in the corner.

Albino leopard gecko

 Miss Chocolate, looking all pretty!

Sand VS no sand

There is an endless amount of discussions regarding having sand as substrate in your terrarium. Most people are (hopefully) aware of the fact that there is a risk of impaction, if your gecko eats the sand, and it gets stuck inside its stomach. On the other hand, in nature, the leopard geckos live in the desert, and it's natural for them to be able to dig (both to cool off, and when they are about to lay eggs).

I have always, during my 13~ years as a leopard gecko owner, used sand in my terrariums. Although I never use fine sand, but more like the kind you would have in an aquarium with fishes. I think sand is way more natural for a leopard gecko than using paper as substrate. But make sure the sand is kind of coarse.

Eating sand is not bad itself, since the sand contains minerals and might help digesting the food. It is when the sand is fine enough to clump up in the stomach that there might be some unexpectedly sad consequences.

So remember; if you want to use sand for your leos, make sure it is course and won't cause impaction.

Bananana

I took some photos of Banana in the terrarium :) And yes, I am aware of the fact that she has some skin left on her nose from her shedding. She's not a big fan of the moist box :/ but it'll come off easily.

She's such a cutie, isn't she? :)

Banana is actually the most shy one of the ladies. Wendy (Mack snow) is the most "social" one, but both Choco (Talbino) and Midnight (patternless) are very curious and love to climb our hands/arms... until Wendy comes with her "back off, bitches, these are my humans!"-attitude. Seriously! Yesterday when Midnight climbed my hand, Wendy came and stepped on her, while on my hand, because she always has to be social when the other lizards are, lol! Poor Midnight...

Leopard gecko terrarium

Here is a picture of one of our two terrariums in use (the other one belongs to Rango). In this one, Wendy, Midnight, Banana and Choco live! I know it's a bit too small according to Swedish law, but what the hell, they love it, it looks good, and I don't even live in Sweden anymore!

There are lots of hides for the leos, and lots of things to climb. It also has the right temperature, and the girls are all "good friends" (no dominance or bullying). Of course we would love to get them a bigger terrarium, but that will probably have to wait until we move and get a big reptile room! For now, they are happy there :)

Our gorgeous Mack snow male

I decided to photograph our (at the moment) only male leopard gecko; our beautiful Mack snow, Captain! He is very light colored and extremely pretty! He is naturally slim and has an unusually long tail, which you can see clearly in the first picture. He is also very friendly and curious. :)

Mack snow x Talbino

This morning when I went to check on the ladies, I saw the cutest thing ever:

Wendy (Mack snow) and Choco (Tremper albino) together in the reptile den.  I like how Wendy's fat gravid belly can't really fit up there, haha. I'm so happy that Chocolate gets along with all the other girls! She's like the mother figure in the terrarium, even though Wendy is (probably) the oldest.

Chocolate: Tremper albino

Since Choco (Chocolate) is the latest addition to the family, and because I just can't get over her beauty and amazing pattern and colors, I want to share some more photos of her with you! I know she is "just" a Tremper albino, but she's so insanely gorgeous! These pictures are taken with flash:

Here she is in my neatly manicured hands! She was kind of nervous when we first got her but quickly calmed down. Now she's easy to handle, which is very much appreciated! :) I guess the girls taught her well.

Veiled chameleon terrarium

Mads and I decided to rearrange Rango's (our female veiled chameleon) terrarium a bit, and remove the pots and instead plant everything in the bottom of the terrarium. Of course, Mads was the one to do all the work:

While getting the terrarium ready, we put Rango in the window, and she seemed to like it there ;)

We also planted grass in the dirt to cover it up, since Rango has a tendency of eating dirt. It will look awesome once the ground is covered! We don't even need to cut it, we'll just put some grasshoppers in the terrarium for Rango to eat, and while she's hunting them, they'll be "cutting" the grass for us! Great success!

"Home made" rack system

Today, Mads and I (well ok, mostly Mads) will get the new rack system ready for our reptiles. We will get the heating next week, and then we can finally move the snakes + two of the leos to the racks, and get rid of the ugly big thing we have standing in the corner. It takes up too much space!

More about this + pictures later :)

Reptile egg incubator

Since our Mack snow is gravid, and because we want to breed the High yellow phase hognoses, we got an egg incubator! It's not one of those super expensive professional ones, but we shall see if it's just as good ;)

 Inside

No eggs inside at the moment, since Wendy (Mack snow) is still carrying them. Any day now, any day...

Group photo

I decided to take a picture of all our leopard geckos (except for my Sunglow, since she's too small to be with the adults) together! They look great, don't you think? ;) Four of them are females and only one is male.

Since the male, Captain (light Mack snow) showed too much interest in little Banana, I had to remove him.
So here is a photo of only the females.

Face shots

So we are patiently waiting for miss Wendy (Mack snow) to lay her eggs! It's been too long! :( I don't want to wait anymore, I want to see some eggs! We have the incubator ready at least, so now we are just waiting. And while waiting, here are two close-ups of Choco (Chocolate, Tremper albino) and Sundae (Sunglow):

Sundae is so tiny, her eyes don't look very albino-ish in pictures. Anyhow, I'm waiting for Mads to get up so we can take pictures of all our leos together! You know, like one of those when the leopard geckos walk around in a plastic box so you can see all the different colors and pattern! We might not include Sundae though, she's too small.

Reptile den

I don't know how, but they always manage to get gravid Wendy up on the top to fit two more in there. Feels like we should be getting them a bigger reptile den soon. They seem to enjoy it very much :) It's one of those you put up against the glass so you can remove the outer part and look into the hide.

Poor Midnight didn't fit, but she's right outside waiting for any of the others to get out so she can take their place!

My leopard geckos

First post! Yay! Thought I would show you all my female leopard geckos! At the moment I only have one male (a beautiful light Mack snow named Captain), but that's all I need right now. ;) So let's check out the ladies:
